Lever Guns

Same ol' lever-action tribe, mostly acquired years ago.

Top to bottom:

Winchester Model 1873 .38-40 from 1900
Winchester Model 1886 .45-90 from 1887
Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine .32-20 from 1896
Winchester Model 94 .32 Winchester Special from 1941
Winchester Model 1895 .405 WCF from 1904
A Savage 99 in .300 Savage from 1955 crept in there.

A more recent gun show acquisition from a year ago, a 1953 Marlin Model 39A 22 Long Rifle.

Here's my 4 lever actions. Browning 30-06 and 22 on the left. Marlin 30-30 and 35 on the right.

Miroku does make very nice guns. I had a Winchester 92 by Miroku in .44 Magnum. It had a steel crescent buttplate and beat me like no other gun ever has. The Marlin 1894 is easier on my shoulder.

Nice collections. Ishould have listened to my buddy years ago when they were cheaper. I just picked up my first lever gun and it was actually through the forum.

1952 Marlin 336SC waffle top in .30-30 This is the start of my new collection. If someone can tell me what they are using to post pictures please pm me. Was using imagur but it's not working anymore.

Was in gun business to 1991-92. At this time post war Marlin, post 64 Wins and most Savage 99s were dogs. I'm talking lever guns. Average price for a good used specimens was $100. The guys that bought lever guns to hunt with tended to buy Marlin, used or new over the Winchester's made after 1963. The Savage 99 series were a good gun but not popular in our area. Today we have rifle season in Ohio. In the legal cartridges the lever actions have the market. Companies are coming up with Bolt Actions and AR type rifles for the trade.
Ohio back then was slug only and lever action market was limited. Living in eastern Ohio we had a trade in deer rifles because of Penn and WVa.

The Savage 99 is just a graceful looking lever action. We have one here shared between The Better Half and her brother since it passed down from their dad. M99 in .250-3000 and I admit that Wendy is the better at bagging whitetails than I am. :)

Finally got the taller front sight on my 1984C and made it out to the range to zero it this morning.

Not bad for factory ammo (PMC 158gr JSP), and considering the front sight bead covered the entire bull at 50yds. I'm wondering if I should have gone with the smaller bead...

Anyway, it was no problem ringing a 12" steel at 100yds, so it'll be a nice little carbine for the boonies.
