LeveRevolution 45colt

You could just buy a box of factory ammo (expensive I know) and just use those empty brass. But if they work at the longer case length then even better.

Let us know:)

With the little rubber tip on those bullets, they will not chamber in a levergun in a full length case when crimped in the cannelure. Believe me, been there, done that.

Hornady shortens the cases so they will. That is the whole purpose of the round. "To turn a pistol caliber levergun into a high powered rifle!" ;)

All kidding aside, take a regular case, one from any other ammo than Leveroution. Then, take one of the cases from the ones that your MIL and wife bought, measure. Let us know what you come up with.....

Skip they bought bullets and powder...it is up to me so a trimming I will go...thanks

Ok...I went ahead and loaded 5 rounds only trimming the cases back to 1.275, I loaded them with 8.1 grains of Longshot and went out back and tried them in my rifle. They shot beautifully, they cycled and chambered with no problems, I am wondering what the difference is in my Rossi. I didnt set out a target its too windy but I will sometime this weekend and give you all a proper range report. Thanks

Ok I loaded up five more only trimming what the standard Lee 45colt trimmer trims. I ended up with Col of 1.684, I used Winchester WLP primers and Starline Cases. 9 grains of Longshot, shooting out of a Rossi M92 45lc Stainless Rifle with the 24" Octagonal barrel, First I sighted in the target using some Freedom Muntions 255gr FPFMJ rounds, these were running an average of 1087fps, I learned that I need a new front sight post someone before me has ground it down to far. So I ended up sighting at the bottom center of the target which is a 12" circle with the 3" circles in the 4 corner quadrants. I found out that if I shot bottom center I hit upper right 3" so I lived with that because I couldnt adjust anymore. But you can tell the differences in the holes the 255 grain cut circles while the 225 FTX's were pretty ragged holes. Anyway the FTX's without any special trimming ran perfect and also averaged 1160 and if you can tell with the picture they were pretty consistant. I will get better sights for the rifle but the whole thing works great. No sign of over pressure or leaking primers or extra fouling. So I dont believe I have to trim my cases and am going to enjoy taking a deer with it this season, but I am going to find a new front sight post and get it ordered tonight. Thank You all!

Ok I am now loading the FTX's with 12.3gr of Longshot and a Remington LPM primer. She is shooting 1.75 high at 100 and about 2 low at 200. I have seen velocities working my way up to 1600fps and a little higher with no problems and my brass is still great. I do not have to trim the brass at all, I just trim it back to whatever my Lee Case Length gauge trims it to. with a COL of 1.68" This is an outstanding load in my rifle, going for a box of FTX 250gr bullets to see what they will do. It is not a gimmick it does make my Rifle (24" barrel) a serious brush gun.
