I picked this gun up recently. I pulled the grips off this afternoon to check the serial number.(not realizing it's marked under the topstrap). I saw these numbers : 24484 and 165. This gun is #165 of 300, so I know what that number represents. Since it was done at the same time as the 165, I figure it's probably a Lew Horton-specific number. Any ideas? My searching hasn't yielded any insight. It's not important, just curious. Thanks

You got you a nice gun there. The numbers on the sides of the grip frame are assembly numbers the factory uses to keep the parts and pieces together. The only one you would care about is the serial number on the bottom side of the frame.

Ok. Thanks. I was figuring it was a Lew Horton number, but I guess it would have to bean assembly. No other numbers on it excepte the model number, and 165 again on the yoke
