I would like some opinions on value of 1984 special edition Lew Horton 1st 100 unfired new in box revolver. Like I said in a previous post I stumbled into several of these fine guns and didnt know what I was actually buying at the time. This Forum has been a tremendous help but I have realised I am not a collector of firearms but a collector of shooters. I would like to trade to someone who would appreciate this revolver more than I will. Any advise on value would be appreciated.Thanks..........Randy.......

I would be interested in the 2 1/2" one very much. Others will help you with value, but I would like to jump in line when you decide to move it.

I didn't even know they made a 686 that looks like the 66. I would love to have one like that. Informative, thank you.

maximumbob54,

i believe the top gun in the photo IS a 66.

It's my opinion only, so take it FWIW, but I don't believe the "Special Edition" has any greater value than an unfired ANIB gun would have. Different areas of the country make a difference, too. Actual completed auctions, not reserve price, or high starting bids, on Gunbroker will give you an idea of value.

About a year or two ago I was looking for a no-dash 2 1/2 inch 686 and one of the "First hundred' models showed up on one of the auction sites. I think I dropped out of the bidding at about $750 or $800 and it went on for a while from there. Mr. Smith guesses $1,000 and I would say at least that. I ended up with a standard (non-marked) model (all of which were from Lew Horton, I believe, at least the no-dash ones) and I think I paid about $700 for it. That was with the box and very clean and at the time I thought that was a good price.
