Lexington MA where freedom began, to ban possession of Semi-autos

what bushmaster says! The libtards plan is no longer national, it is to paraphrase a lefty greeny "think globally, act locally"

Their new playbook is to go after each town one at a time and eventually get rid of guns.

Longmeadow is voting on a bill that will force everyone to register all their guns when they renew their license. In Mass you cannot even have an empty spent .22 case without a license.

We must all be vigilant at all times! This is a new war, a local war on our rights

Well it passed by a 2/3 margin.

Rotberg the Professor who put up the bill claimed that semis can fire 600-800 rounds a minute. When pressed he admitted he has never fired a semi-auto and didn't realize you had to pull the trigger for each shot, also when asked about his source on the volume of fire, he cited a story in "CRACKED" magazine, a satirical rag.

This was changed to non-binding so our gay Attorney General Marua Healy can disparage guns (she called the NRA and the gun lobby ridiculous)

What is more of a concern is Longmeadow MA which is trying to ban all public carry of guns, concealed or not (in cases) on town owned lands including sidewalks, ban most Semi-auto's and when you renew your gun license you would have to register ALL your guns with the local police dept (yeah that can work out well, such security!)

A citizen of the town of Lexington MA has put an article on the spring town meeting to ban the possession of any semi-auto that will "accept" a magazine holding "10 or more rounds" as well as banning all mags that hold "10 or more rounds"

I assume the "it" you refer to is the "ban on the possession of any semi-auto that will "accept" a magazine holding "10 or more rounds" as well as banning all mags that hold "10 or more rounds." Is that correct? What is the next step before it becomes law? Is the passage of the article reversible or does it potentially get stopped at some level?

Since many semi-auto firearms have the potential to accept magazines of 10 or more rounds and since many come standard with or magazines of 10 or more rounds and since many aftermarket manufacturers make high-capacity magazines for a plethora of firearms couldn't it be interpreted that this new article would effectively ban a huge number of firearms? For example 30+ round and drum magazines are available for the Glock 17, 19, and 26 so wouldn't this "article" effectively ban these Glocks? On the surface this looks extraordinarily onerous. Please clarify if these assumptions are off-base.

This article would have banned all semi-autos because you can make a mag for any gun that holds 10 or more rounds. Luckily due to public outcry they made it a "non-binding" resolution to "start a discussion of gun violence". The "Professor" from Harvard who put it up stood there with a straight face and said all semi-autos can fire 600-900 rounds a MINUTE. When questioned about his sources and experience he admitted he has never fired a semi, and didn't realize that you have to pull the trigger each shot AND his source was a satire piece in CRACKED magazine, and Harvard pays him!

Longmeadow is going forward with their town meeting where they will vote on banning all "assault" weapons (rocks also?) prohibiting carry on any town owned property including sidewalks (wonder about the streets?) and when you renew your gun license you have to give the Police a complete list of every gun you own.

Additional irony is that the Battle of Concord-Lexington was fought because the British wanted a cache of rifles and military supplies held in that area.

I grew up in MA during a simpler time back in the 50's and 60's. It was much different then.

I moved out in '86. I am glad my daughters grew up in NH which is still a freedom loving state but I fear that may change over the years.

It really is sad to see what my home state of MA has become.

I wish you all well.

Scary thread is an understatement. Lot easier to confiscate if forced to register with local police. Of course that's what they have in mind. Am afraid of future laws on the Federal level as well. Election time makes me very concerned

Wow, I was completely unaware...

Ludacris is the word that comes to mind. And then to hear that it passed with a 2/3 vote?? Sad, very sad.

Here is one of the articles from the Longmeadow MA town meeting to be voted on in May, this is in addition to full registration, but if you neighbor lives in the next town he doesn't have to register his.

ARTICLE 31. Citizen Petition
To see if the Town will vote to accept a bylaw for an assault weapon ban that reads, whoever possesses an assault weapon or a large
capacity feeding device shall pay a fine of $300 for each day such assault weapon or large capacity feeding device is possessed within
the Town. The possessor of an assault weapon or a large capacity feeding device shall pay a separate fine for each assault weapon and
each large capacity feeding device. The term "assault weapon" and "large capacity feeding device" shall have the meanings found in
Massachusetts General Laws, chapter 140, section 121. The possession of an assault weapon or a large capacity feeding device is
unlawful even if such assault weapon or large capacity was lawfully possessed on or before September 13, 1994. The effective date of
this bylaw shall be September 1, 2016, or take any other action relative thereto.
Massachusetts state law prohibits the possession of assault weapons and large capacity feeding devices (defined as devices capable of
holding certain amounts of ammunition) but provides an exception for assault weapons and large capacity feeding devices lawfully
possessed on September 13, 1994. This bylaw would eliminate this exception and prohibit all assault weapons and large capacity
feeding devices in Longmeadow. The effective date of September 1, 2016 would allow owners of assault weapons and large capacity
feeding devices falling within this exception sufficient time to remove them from Longmeadow

So it looks like all AR-15's would be banned???

I lived in Wilmington Mass in the early 1980's,,

Co-workers that found I was moving to Virginia asked me to buy their guns in droves,,

When I left the state I had ALL the High Standard Supermatics and Olympics that I could afford.

All were purchased at under $100 each,,, the owners were happy to be rid of them.

In Wilmington,,,
it was a severe offense to be caught outside of your home in possession of such a deadly weapon,,,

Ahhh,,, the memories!! :D

Oh,, by the way,,, I did sell one before I left,,, a Sport King,,,
The co-worker was gonna take it to his lodge in Vermont,,,

I then used those funds to buy TWO more Supermatics,,,, one of those was a Spacegun,,,

It is interesting that the Mass Superior Court, our state version of the SCOTUS, held that there is no individual right in Mass to have a gun.

These twits would hate me because, unexpectedly, this Sat, I acquired another handgun w/ 2 - 15 dr double-stack magazines. Its time for them to heed the words of Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin!!!

They say history repeats itself...let me start anew on an old piece of history . If they try to take my guns (liberty) I will stand up and declare " I will not comply with your laws against my living as a free man " THIS IS STILL AMERICA...for now

Nice to meet you yesterday Mr. Cartwright..;)...I was a bit disappointed with the gun show . I found the prices a little on the high side . Went to a couple of gun shows last month in FL and found the dealers down there to be more willing to deal . Oh well . Anyways , hope the show was fruitful for you .

Divide the classes is the preferred method of a socialist government...china , Russia etc have upper and lower classes . Seems a lot of work going into doing away with our middle class is the direction liberals wish to go in...OR...could be me feeling a little paranoid...
