I got a phone call from a Local Gunshop owner this afternoon suggesting he had something that I might be interested in. It was this M36, purchased by a woman on 12/12 1980, with box and all papers including the stub from the warranty card showing date of purchase and cleaning kit. Also included was one full box of Rem. .38 Spl. 158gr RN that she purchased at the same time and a holster. She said the gun was never fired and that certainly appears to be the case.
Well, the gun has a new home now.
It's nice to have friends in the right places.
Thanks Randy.

There's nothing that can be worse to a wallet " A have a friend that works at a LGS ." I haven't fallen down that rabbit hole , though it would be nice . I have enough enablers here , "Hi Mike , I have a really nice PC gun I need to unload , I'll give you a good price on it ." Sad part is , they're always right and then I've gone down the rabbit hole . But eh , I do have a nice amount of PC guns and no small amount of revolvers .

My father had a co-worker/buddy who was also an FFL. He remarked, "I hadn't bought anything in years, then he puts something in my hands to look at and I can't say no!"

Nice Chiefs Special time capsule. Congratulations.

I'd guess the serial number to be in the high J7xxxxx range. The
inside of the right stock should still have the serial number minus
the J.

You do have a good friend.

There's only one thing worse than having a friend that works at a LGS...it's having a son that manages a LGS! I'm afraid to count all the guns in my safe that he gave me first rights to buy, and at the "Dad price"! Of course my wife feels a little differently about that situation! That's a sweet NIB Model 36 you picked up! Enjoy!
