Although pretty much sold out in my area, one LGS has several bricks of .22LR yet is allowing only one to a customer at a time. He refused to sell me more than one, saying to wait till next week when I can buy another. I've heard of rationing gasoline, health care and other goods but never ammo. Guess this is part of the "new normal" in America.

No, not the new normal but the normal when people get all crazy and want to buy up everything on the shelf just because they are in a panic. I don't blame the dealer for stopping the foolishness and protecting all his customers from not being able to buy ammo.

I can respect the gun shop for doing that. Way better then what my local place is doing. He dont wanna "take advantage of customers" so he putting it on gunbroker. Had a BX 25 mag put on gun broker for 85 dollars.

Nor do I blame the dealer. He's trying to be fair to his many loyal customers including me. He said he has had offers for a wholesale buyout but is trying to allocate product. "If I don't put limits on what I have on the shelves, I won't have anything to sell later on," he said.

Yeah, both of the LGS's I go to started doing that simply to allow more people a chance to have some. One of them has a ten box limit while the other has a five box limit (due to supply). I don't blame them either, could be a while before they get more in stock.
I went to a Gander Mountain in Columbus OH a while back and overheard one of the salesman telling a guy that someone came in and bought the last 40 boxes of 7.62 he had. I'm sure that's some of the reason behind rationing.
It will catch back up, it'll just take a little while.

I agree with the dealer. One of my LGS got some 5.56's last week and limited 3 boxes per person. Said if he didn't the next guy in the door would take all he had. Still sold out in 1 day but made a lot more happy customers and wasn't gouging like many are less than 50 cents a round.
