License Picture

I'll call Monday for a difinitive answer, but was just wondering:

Has anybody heard of being able to retake your picture? Besides at renewal time.

I wish I could retake mine. I think they did a second backround check when they seen it... I look like a criminal.

Our local License Office will retake a picture but only if the subject has their eyes closed or if they sneeze or something that results in a photo that does not really look like the person. A do-over to get a better angle is something they won't do.

Now, I have a suggestion. Before you get your photo taken, ask the agent at the desk if they will do retakes. A polite question with a little humor might help your case. Our License Offices are privately run and the people who work there are, in my experience, pretty nice.

The worst they can say is "no".

I didn't like my picture so I put my baby's face over mine...much more fun when I have to show ID...and no problem since the little picture on the right proves it's me anyway....

Not that it answers your question, but in Utah you have to provide a passport size photo to the BCI (Bureau of Criminal Identification) which administrates the CFP program instead of the Driver License Div. as in many states. So long as the photo is adequate to identify you they will take any photo that is the right size.

Just an aside. The Utah permit is specificallt a concealed firearms permit. If you are carrying a knife concealed as a weapon you can still be charged with carrying a concealed weapon! Silly isn't it?

I thought at first you were talking about the CHL pic, if so, in NM they use the same pic on your driver's license.

Actually, my carry license is better than my drivers license. In my drivers license I'm clearly annoyed after waiting hours. My carry license, although a lengthy process, I have the biggest smile -- clearly happy to get my mug shot taken.

I Try to keep my old picture as long as I can... Im older and more or less the same ( More Weight & Less Hair )

It's pretty funny. In FL, I had a nice license with a color photo that looked like a driver's license.

When I moved to NC, they gave me a crappy laminated paper license with no photo that looks like I could have made it myself.

I have renewed the FL license, not sure why, b/c NC has reciprocity with FL. The only reason I can think it might help is if I wanted to buy a rifle there with no waiting period..
