I came across a good deal on a Surefire Fury tTactical light and was hoping to mount it on my AR. But, the barrel diameter on the light is 1.25" and most light mounts are for 1". Any suggestions??

Is this the single output or dual output light?

Dual output. I finally found a few options. Gear sector makes one and Viltor does as well. Larue also has one that requires separate parts that I wasn't too fond of.

I wouldn't mount it on the barrel. Screws with barrel harmonics which screws with your accuracy. You will have to re sight it and it might not be as accurate as it was with whatever ammo it was sighted in with

That brings up a question. I've been considering a mount for a light myself. Rather than hang it off the handguards my thought was to utilize the bayonet lug somehow. Since the bayonet lug is, for all intents and purposes attached to the barrel, will adding an accessory component to it affect harmonics or accuracy?

Anyone else using the lug in this manner?

Moe Smith,
Check out Midwest Industries tactical light mount. I have one on my M&P 15 and it works great.

Thanks, truckin. I have seen these types of mounts. It seems though, that they are better suited to rifles that rely on the use of iron sights, as opposed to a scope or red dot, as it would be adding more mass to the field of view in either of those systems. That is why I was looking more for something to mount underneath, on the bayonet lug of the forward sight. That way, both the mount and the light would be a non issue for any optic.

Gear Sector...

Here's mine mounted on my Samson rail. Just clears the MBUS where it's mounted. Nice and clean....

Not sure about the Surefire Fury tTactical light but I mounted my pistol light, the Streamlight TRL-1, and it does not appear in my field of view thru the scope or red dot..........something different. :)
