Lighting up the Concert

This past Saturday night some old friends, the husband's sister and I went to the Beach Boys concert at the American Music Theatre in Lancaster, PA. Another great concert. When Mike Love asked for audience participation he asked for everyone to turn on the flashlights in their cell phones. So there we were in a sea of phone lights. I've been going to concerts by old rock and roll performers for a long time. When I went to see the Beach Boys back in the 1980s everybody was probably holding up their Bic lighters.

Back in the early '80s I went to a Texxas Jam all day concert with several bands. It was in the Astrodome and once night fell Journey was up and started playing some of their ballads. The number of lighters being held up produced so much light that the interior of the 'Dome looked candlelit.

Along with holding up lit Bic lighters, there was usually a fog of smoke. Burning leaves of some sort. . . .
