Hey all.

I'm trying to research lightweight 1911 pistols for a possible new carry piece. I love the 1911 and want to check out what lightweight 1911's that S&W made up till now. I've seen 1 and it really looked great and I'm pretty sure others were made.

I don't care if it's a full size, Commander, CCO or Officers. If S&W made it in a lightweight frame, I'd like to check it out.

Please post what you know about their 1911 lineup over the years.

Thank you all kindly for all your help.

The 1911sc is Commander size (4 1/4") and has a bob-tail alloy frame. The 108483 variant is one of my favorite pistols to carry, and has been flawless in operation for about 10 years now, although the tritium night sights are getting a bit dim. It weighs 29 ounces with an empty magazine.

3" Sub-compact, PRO Series, usually all-black (some had polished slide flats), .45 or 9mm.

Older 4.25" Compact ES, 'CCO' style with shorter 'officers' frame, usually TWO-Tone (might be some all-black ones?), .45 only.

Older 4.25" SC model, 'commander' sized, mostly all-black... maybe a few Two-tone, some available as GUNSITE models, .45 only.

Newer 4.25" E-series SC model, 'commander' sized, bobtailed frames, all-black or Two-tone, some available with 'ported' slides, .45 only.
