At least for some of you, but we "out west" aren't far behind.

As per last year, my gf in WA & I will be celebrating apart, separated by "the longest undefended border in the world" due to COVID, but we'll manage. I always feel sorry for those who man (can we use that word now?) the kiosks along that border at Christmas and New Year's, when they really should be with their families, but someone has to do it, even with the relatively limited traffic going through at this time.

I probably won't stay up until midnight, but in an hour or so will pre-celebrate the coming New Year with a bit of this :D

Also many thanks and best wishes to Lee and the mods, and the fine folks of the Forum who make this a good place to hang out, whether discussing the best caliber for mastodons or just shooting the bull :)

My idea of a real wild New Year's eve is popping a batch of popcorn, watching an old John Wayne movie or a bowl game, and then hitting the sack around 10:00. This year was no different. Happy New Year to all of you good folks!:)

To borrow John Wayne's expression from his last movie, whatever fits your pistol! With me, it was George Dickel #12 Tennessee whisky, Member Absalom introduced me to this whisky, so you can see how much of an influence the Forum has had on my life.;)

Happy New Year to all!

2021 ended on a high note for me, took a friend to First Night Morris in Morristown, NJ, she got to see a folk singer she last saw in college in 1989, talked to him, got an autographed CD. No fireworks at the countdown, alas. Afterwards, a "nightcap" at a local diner, a nice safe drive home.

Would it be embarrassing for you too tell us what you did? :D Larry

OK so I got a divorce and started doing a bunch of things I wanted to do. I joined a boxing class, a dance class, and a dating website. Went on lots of dates and spent lots of money but then I got in a serious relationship with a woman who was a CrossFit competitor and she was very strong and in incredible shape and it made me feel like a total wimp. So I started working out hard at the gym, mountain biking, and joined a Boot Camp and got in the best shape of my life at 62 years old. We hiked to the top of Pikes Peak which took over 10 hours and I went snow skiing, water skiing, and roller skating for the fist time in 20 years. Visited Montana and went White water rafting, snowmobiling, and rode zip lines through the mountains and we just got back from Branson and saw some shows and took a helicopter ride and rode a mountain coaster. We're going skiing in Telluride in a couple weeks and to Alaska in March and I haven't watched hardly any TV or news and I don't know what's going on with the rest of the world or Covid, and I'm not worrying about anything I'm just enjoying life.

I'm SO ready for a new year! It has to be better than what I've been through. October 12th I had a fight with a 20 ft. extension ladder. The ladder won and I got my butt kicked. I was up about 12 -13 ft. and the ladder went out from under me, I rode it down, cracked sternum, 7 broken ribs, ripped my nose from the tip to the bridge, brain bleed and umbilical hernia! The last day of the year I was off the weight limit that I can pick up, by Drs. order. I'm on the mend and I hope 2022 is better! The photo is a couple days out of ICU.

Giving your post a 'like' so you might see my reply. I wish you all the best. Falling is one of the most serious things that happen to us older folks because the results are more severe than were we younger. A year ago, I 'only' lost my balance from turning my head too quickly, caught myself, but injured my left leg. Took 6 months to self-heal.

Talk is cheap, I know, but maybe refrain from ladders? I can't use them AT ALL, but fortunately, I have a neighbor who climbs like an ape and helps me with bulb and battery changing. I have cathedral ceilings... Again, all good wishes.

I was fortunate enough to spend Christmas with my daughter & family in CO. My granddaughter got engaged this Christmas. I did become somewhat nervous when the TV kept announcing 300 flights cancelled by United, etc. We lucked out and both our flights were available and on time. I told m Granddaughter to plan her wedding NOT during a holiday time, to avoid the massive crowds at the airport.

I'm glad to see 2021 in the rearview mirror. We both had covid-19, and we had to put our beloved Oliver kitty to sleep

2022 isn't starting off that great. We go to pay for our groceries at Shop Rite and our card was declined. I checked my phone, and there was an email from Bank of America saying that there had detected unusual activity on the account. 3 charges originating in California yesterday and today. Obviously not ours.

When we got home, we went over the statement line by line. There were 2 charges for $1.05 each, one for Ebay, the other on PayPal. I checked both of those accounts and they were not mine. I think that the scammers do that to see if they have a valid credit card number. Had I checked the statement when it came, I would have caught that.

So I hope that is not a harbinger of the year ahead.
