The article I read this morning said suffocated. I find it much more plausible that he strangled the cat since they were face to face and the response might be as close to instinctive as there is.
Due to injuries, I don't run anymore, but I never liked running in places were there could be truly hostile critters, whether the woods or urban jungles. I also see a staggering number of people who exercise outside who are wearing earbuds or even the noise cancelling headphones. The stupidity of doing such leads to me to hope for a Darwinian outcome, since I am sure that they are the same snowflakes who would whine about getting appropriate verbal feedback (think Ermey) or some serious wall to wall counseling. Might as well hope we cleanse the pool before they spawn and just drive on.
