My first dog was a Siberian Husky and he would carry on a regular conversation when you talked to him. When he wanted something, he didn't just come to you and hope that you would follow him, no, he would tell you what he wanted.

Our previous labs spent the night on the bed with us. Scout sleeps on the couch or in her crate, but we have a set morning routine.

I get up about 4am, start the coffee maker and greet Scout. She follows me back into the bedroom, gets up on the bed and the Mrs and I and we give and get some good doggie loving. It's a great way to start the day!

When that's over, we fix our coffee and feed Scout. If we don't give her a dental chew as soon as she's finished, the little runt reads us the riot act!

I didn't really want another dog after having to put our last two down at 12-13 years old, but now I'm glad we have her. She's turned into a really good companion!

Dogs have their routines as do we. My dogs and I wake up at about 4:00am and I let them out to make sure the bears are gone. (Have not seen one yet, but, they still check!) I pour my coffee and then sit for my crossword puzzles etc. Honey usually hops to my lap and Seamus will lay between my chair and the closest door. Unless we are on the porch, there, he lays on the marble topped table.

About 5:00am they go in to wake Herself. Then, another routine…

We currently have six dogs in the garden outside my wife's office. I have room for 15-20 more. And Himself…and Herself. As far as dogs go, my limit is 2. An easy number with which to travel and should one go to the garden, we are not dogless. 2 also happens to be my minimum.
