Little Dust-up in Texas...

As a LEO, I had the experience of dealing with one percenter gangs in the cities I worked in. Generally, they killed each other and didn't bother the regular folks because that would bring a major reaction from the "blue gang" and in those days we weren't quite as gentle as these days. When they eliminated each other, it went into the "good riddance" category...I have been riding cycles all my adult life and I know the difference between them and people who just like to ride...I find all the poser dentists and plumbers and lawyers, etc. who are trying to look like those people amusing. I guess its like the cowboy shooters who pretend to be outlaws of the Old West. The romantic image and seedy reality of those groups among some hasn't been made clear by actual exposure to such predators...As long as they kill each other I don't care but the danger to bystanders and decent citizens is intolerable. It seems to me that the Texas lawmen did a good job and managed to eliminate a few themselves. The presence of such people in my area has dwindled to almost none. Aggressive law enforcement has encouraged them to move on...The fact that in my area, there is a good chance that the citizens they may try to intimidate are Navy SEALS or Marines and they don't play nice if one messes with their gangs.

Sheriff McNamara and Waco Chief interviewed. Law enforcement had some lead up to it. One man I spoke with this morning said when the officers were fired on and returned fire, the goofs threw down their arms. They had a "moment of clarity" I rekon.

Quite a bit of vid here: Almost 200 Jailed After Nine Killed In Biker Gang Shooting

Twin Peaks management knew about the meetings, and never warned police.
I just don't understand people

Yeah...you know it can't be good when two rival gangs meet. But somehow the cops already knew as they were 12 or so cops waiting too. Someone had to warn them.

I read no others but bikers were killed or injured.

Haven't heard of trouble from bikers for many years.

Just from reading the details of this story I really don't care if they rode in on a Harley, a camel or a fence post, when they started shooting the place up they were no longer "people" they were thugs! Somehow I don't think a good talking to would have worked real well at that incident. LEO's did exactly what they were supposed to do when fired upon.

And the Republic of Texas Biker Rally is coming up in June down in Austin. Should make it interesting.

A guy here at work said that at the biker bar in his town had told the members to load up and head to to waco.

What's the best Biker Gang Gun?

If you were going to a Biker Gang Shootout, what type of handgun would you choose...a revolver or a semi-auto?

And what caliber/load would you use?

Should this be in a separate thread?

Jim. you really need to let everyone know you are just picking a little. Don't want anyone to think you are serious........

I was attached to the SWAT team as a hostage negotiator for a Hells Angel summer fun run to Missoula several years ago. It was a sight to see, and the event came off with only a few incidents, probably due to the large police presence.

After one long shift I got back to the hotel and found myself in the elevator with a large HA sporting full colors. He had his wife and small kids with him. He knew what I was, and we exchanged pleasantries and had an uneventful ride.

Did that make him a nice guy? Not hardly. I had seen the rap sheets and intel reports and had no illusions that his club was anything but a criminal organization.

I've been dealing with violent criminals for three decades now. I've learned that one on one they can be charming funny guys who seem just caught up in events. I laugh and joke with them and try very hard to put them in jail while they laugh and joke with me and try to stay out. Its part of the our respective roles.

But that same charming rogue is a whole different animal in the wild, on his own turf, and with his pack.

As far as this story goes, it sounds like the cops were on the ball and its good that no cops or other good guys got hurt.

Ban motor cycles and vests!!!!

I was a little surprised to see the Intel. About the Cossacks and Banditos. The open order to kill anyone in uniform. I really thought these folks were slyer than that. Note I used the word sly not smart.

In 1978, after they executed the Federal Judge in the Dallas area, a number of Banditos decided to summer in the mountains and ended up in the area I was working in at the time. As SIgp220.45 wrote, one-on-one and when it suite them, most of these guys were decent folks, and not too bad to talk with.
Yet I never forgot that anyone of them would not hesitate to kill me, without a second thought, if they believed it was necessary. They also knew that the aforementioned was a two way street.

Thank goodness we had no real problems the entire time they were in town, but it was a tense six or so weeks.

As for the recent "dust-up." I have two thoughts. Remember the old adage, ya live by the sword you die by the sword. Waco, TX area D.P.S. 9 bike rats 0:cool:.

People need to be responsible for their actions and the situation they find themselves in. I'm sorry for the families and the loved ones these morons left behind, but I won't shed a tear for those killed in the malay they started. They were bad folks who made bad choices.

Kudos to the LEO down there. Be safe and vigilant.
