Trying to pick between the 4.22" polymer framed 2.0 Performance Center Comp Carry compact and the 4" polymer Performance center Comp Cary Shield Plus. Will be my new EDC as I have a original 2012 8+1 Shield I carry everywhere I go that requires concealed carry. Absolutely LOVE my Shield.
I am leaning towards the Shield Plus because it is all around smaller and lighter. Price difference is not a factor.

I also wish to upgrade to a RMR on my EDC.

Mostly I am looking for any reason I should NOT buy the 4" micro compact Performance Center Comp Carry Shield Plus over the 4.22" 2.0 Performance Center Compact Comp Carry.

Thanks to all who help me in making this most important of purchases.

My hands cannot get a good normal support hand grip on my SPCC. The grip is too small for me, no space for the heel of the support hand thumb to rest. I have to wrap my support hand behind the thumb to maintain grip through multiple shots. This isn't a problem by itself, but if you also shoot full size guns I think having 2 grips could be a problem. I love how it carries though, perfect size for me in that regard.

I bought a Shield Plus Carry Comp, SKU 13990, last November and was disappointed with how they are apparently configured now. S&W has gone cheap on the striker blocks and I got a gritty trigger in mine as a result. Others have reported getting the same striker block. The details are in this thread: https://smith-wessonforum.com/threa...rry-comp-striker-block.731550/#post-142116186

My full size polymer Carry Comp, SKU 14415, came with the rounded striker block like all of my other Performance Center M&P’s, and a smooth trigger. From what I’ve seen reported, the Carry Comp Compact also has the rounded striker block and a smoother trigger.

That’s one consideration when comparing the two. The Shield Plus is going to be a little easier to conceal due to it being slightly smaller. The Compact version will give you added capacity.

Just my 2 cents worth, If you get the chance, try comparing the two side by side at a local shop.

FWIW, I own the non-ported versions in the M&P 2.0 Compact 4.0" and Shield Plus 3.1".

The 2.0C is thicker and 4 oz heavier, but if you're using the 13 round mags in the Shield Plus, the grip lengths are almost identical. With the 15 round magazine, grip length is very close to a full size M&P's grip length.

When it comes to concealment, the Shield Plus to generally be a bit 'easier' due to it being slimmer and lighter. I'm all of 5'7" and 145 lbs, so if you're closer to average size, you might find the CC Compact to be easier to conceal than I do. My Shield Plus gets more of a keel effect when carried AIWB (where the grip side wants to rotate away from the body) with the 13/15 round mags, but that will be less of an issue on the longer slide models like the Carry Comp.

When it comes to shooting, the bigger 2.0 Compact is just easier. It's easier to find the dot after a draw, and it's easier to shoot it more quickly. I've got hands that are borderline small/medium depending on the glove manufacturer, and if using the flush-fit 10 round mags in my Shield Plus, I really need to be on my ball to instantly find the dot on my EPS Carry 6 MOA (excellent optic, by the way). The chevron on my 2.0C's 507C ACSS is more easily acquired, even if I'm not running the ring. It's simply just a bit easier to get a consistent grip on the 2.0C even compared to the Shield Plus with 13 round mags, let alone the 10 rounders.

A wild card factor is that some Shield optics cuts have negative cants that make zeroing an EPS Carry (really the best optic in this size class) impossible. My Shield Plus with the RMSc cut had to go to Nameless Armament to get leveled and converted to Holosun K spec, which cost about $100 with the pocket cerakoting. Some of the newer Holosun K cut Shield Plus slides still have this issue.

I have both…lol.
Bought the Shield Plus comp carry for me. I wanted something a little smaller than my C2.

Had an old 9c for my wife, she just never really liked it, traded it in, got the 2.0 comp carry.
Honestly, they’re both great pistols.

Put the 13 round mag in the Plus (I have XXL hands, I just can’t do the 10 rounder)… and the size of either are very compatible with the exception of the thickness.

I honestly agree with everything Beju above has said when it comes to size, etc.
I put a Overwatch trigger in each of them..

The 2.0 comp is a little easier to shoot, but for me… the conceal/weight/carry of the Plus is the reason it’s my EDC. As also mentioned.. the Plus is more limited for Red dots should you choose, the 2.0 comp carry has the CORE system and just about any optic compatibility…

I’d rent/shoot them both. Both great choices… Thin/ease of carry vs. shootability, only you can figure which is more important to you.

I will only add.. the Shield Plus is sprung aggressive… if you have smaller, weaker hands, that may tilt you towards the big brother. My wife does not like the Shield Plus primarily because it’s not as easy to rack/manipulate. The Plus is a tad snappier in the hand.

Never had a Shield but I do really like my Performance Center 2.0 9mm. My one and only criticism of it was the sharp edges of the grip safety bit into the palm of my hand. I sent it off to S&W and had them put the 1.0 grip safety in it for free (at the time). Guess a lot of folks had same complaint. It is really nice now with the more rounded edges of the grip safety.

Sincere thanks for all who replied and shared their experiences with me. I ended up buying the Shield Plus PS Comp Carry because it was in stock at my Cabela's and between my Cabela's and Discover Card points I only paid $235 W/tax. Unfortunately no one near my home had the 2.0 PS Compact in stock nor could they keep them in stock

Will put 200 rounds through it and let you know what I thing. DF'd it A LOT on a snap cap and trigger feels absolutely awesome.
