Little help on N frame serial #

Never thought I would need a Standard Catalog newer than 2nd edition. I'm old and am only interested in old S&W's.
Looking at a 57-1 with AJP serial code, seems it's just out of 2nd edition range.

If you have the box with original end label getting its age is easy.

Without this, the fall of 1985 is a guess; the factory is pretty good with giving this information on the three letter prefix guns, you might try calling them.

The AJwhatevers seem to run around 1986.

Thanks for the responses, 85 - 86 is close enough for now.
If I end up with it I'll call S&W for my records.

Per S&W model 57 - 1 eliminated the pinned and recessed firearm 1982. It goes down hill from there.
