Does anyone have a recipe for the .41 Magnum using a 230 gr. cast bullet? The only one I can find is a 975 fps load using 7 gr. of Power Pistol, but it is listed for the Ruger BH Bisley only. I need a similar velocity load for my 4" Model 58.

My standard for years has been a 210-220 cast swc and 7.0 of Unique. Try it with your bullet and see what you think.

I searched a bunch of books and sites and can't find anything for a 230 gr. bullet.

But, in Guns Magazine, 2012, there are a couople loads using H110 and Enforcer. See:

GUNS1012 - Page 16

I use AA#9 in my 41 mag alot

230gr bullet with 16.5 grains of AA#9 is a great load!

230gr bullet with 17.5 grains of AA#9 is probably max and it kinda stings the hand.:D

That load, along with a lot of others, is found in Handloader #285, "Handloading the 41 Magnum".

Nothing wrong with that load in your 4" M58, it'll just be ~50-75fps slower.

It also lists 7.5gr/P-P @ 1025fps & 8.0gr @ 1065fps.

The bullet is listed only as "230 Rim Rock Keith cast" which as far as I know is their gas checked bullet.

Rim Rock's 240gr L-SWC-FB is very accurate with 8.8gr/P-P in my 657-5.
