I can't find my original set of numbers. but I do have a record of loading my 5,000th round in January of 1986. I have never been a competitive shooter, just a plinker. Most all were 200 grain lead SWC's with a few round nose for variety. Most of the powder was 231 with a small bit of Unique and Red Dot. The majority of the primers were Winchester as that is what my LGS stocked. During the first primer shortage, I got my hands on some Federals and used those. Also a few CCI and Remington when necessary. I started with an RCBS Junior and got a Dillon 550 25 or so years ago. We moved to our new house in 91 and I think it took me almost 10 years before my "reloading room" was created. The Dillon came sometime after that.

I loaded my 10,000th in 12 and 20,00th in 18. .45 is the only caliber I have kept records on. I haven't loaded a revolver round for a long time. I did do a thousand 9mm last Winter. I thought about doing some more this year, but don't want to waste my 231. I do have 4 pounds of Unique and might give that a try.

It has been a very rewarding and relaxing hobby. I sometimes think of it as therapy.

Way to go!!! That is a nice run!
You are fortunate to have stocked up on Unique..... if 4 pounds is considered stocking up for you.

Durn!!!

That's a heap o' .45. I don't know what pill you load, but at 200 grain per bullet that's 857.14 lbs of lead!

I'm not one for repetitive tasks, I get bored easily, but I do enjoy reloading. I tried needlepoint once just for kicks and gave up in frustration.

glad to hear most were loaded with 231, my new pistol powder, still available and priced right.

Wow!!... that is an amazing journey. I know nearly zero about reloading, but I would call you a Wizard in the realm of reloading. Your knowledge and experience is priceless. Have you thought about writing a book?

I dearly enjoy my revolvers, but the 1911 is my absolute favorite. I have no idea how many rounds of .45 I've loaded over the years, but here is a batch of 5,000 I put together over six weeks early in '23. It took so long because I had other stuff going on and I started with dirty brass and a pile of ingots. I did manage to clean the brass, cast the bullets, powder coat them and load them up faster than expected, though. 200 gr. SWC on a comfortable load of Win 231.

Max, take a look at Hodgdon CFE Pistol. I had been using Unique and 231 for years. I was in one of my local shops looking at available powders and a guy suggested CFE to me. I have gone through 4lbs. and just got an 8lb jug of it. I have been using it for .9mm but it's supposed to very good for .45 as well. I have not tried that yet but I am very happy with it. It meters well and is very clean.
