Loaded or Unloaded

I really have become a big fan of DAO for all defense work. I have a 642, a 6946 and a 4586. The 4585 is my bedside gun with a round in the chamber and ready to go. They all work the same simple way wether revolver or auto, just pull the trigger.

Agreed. Since I have to consider that it might be my wife having to use it; the simplicity of the DAO is well appreciated. I've briefed her that all she ever has to do is point and pull the trigger. If it doesn't fire, she knows to rack and repeat. I keep one in the chamber, but I made sure she knows the drill.

I think it's okay to keep a semi-auto in Condition 3 if you're accustomed to that condition and trained to grip the gun and automatically rack the slide. I keep a semi-auto in my night-stand drawer in that condition. But it is essentially a BUG, I also keep a DA revolver fully loaded on top of said night-stand.
