I received my shipment of primed 10mm Norma brass yesterday($.20/ea. shipped!) and decided to load up some subs to to shoot on our property when we head up next weekend.

I’ve got a bunch of powder coated 220 gr. SNS flat points that I bought just for can shooting. 1.26” C.O.A.L. over 9.4 grains AA#9 should give me about 1050-1075 fps out of my CMMG Banshee with 8” barrel. I shot six of them into my bullet trap in the garage, but my Garmin wouldn’t read for some reason. They really weren’t much louder than the .22 subs through my FN 502 with the Dead Air Mask can. This was determined objectively by Mrs. tlawler inside the house as I was shooting in the garage.

What may have helped is that I’m starting to experiment with running my suppressor (a Rugged Obsidian 45) wet. I’ve tried the DA Mask wet with a couple different things and settled on some thick soapy leak detector, which I have a lot of from my job. A couple of spritzes in the muzzle end makes a pretty good difference with the Mask, and now with the Rugged as well.

The brass came through pretty unmolested as well. Other than being dirtier than normal from the can, there was no appreciable bulging and the rims weren’t torn up. know in the past that it’s been brought up that the CMMG extractors do a number on the brass rims. I’ll keep an eye on it once I have a better sampling. IMG_7929.jpegIMG_7930.jpegIMG_7932.jpegIMG_7931.jpeg
