Is there an easy way, or a tool for loading full moon clips?
I picked up a 442 Pro model that comes with 3 moon clips. These are very lightweight and it won't take long to damage or bend them. Unloading the empty cases is not a problem, but loading them is. I can find loading and unloading tools for 6, 7, and 8 round K or L frame guns, but nothing for the 5 round J-Frames.
Anyone know of a tool or an easier way to load the moon clips?

I use the Moon Clip Tool and it works great on my .45 rounds (for 625JM) and .357/.38s (627PC). Remember that some .38/.357 rounds will not work with some moon clips.

Thanks for the info. I have Emailed both companies regarding the reloading tool as well as if they have the moon clips themselves. Waiting for their answers.
Thanks again. Electraclyde

I have a de-mooner I made myself from a .50BMG, but no mooner install tool.

To load clips:
I lay the proscribed rounds of ammo on a bench top / table top and press the clip onto the rebate cartridge rim, alternating sides of the moon 180 degrees (easier on fingers) until full.

I found with my 640 Pro, that Winchester brass would not load in the moonclips at all. I can load Federal or Hornady very easy, without a tool.

I have this one. Reportedly the "original" tool. The owner is top shelf with fantastic customer service. I don't know if it is the same tool as others have posted. I have heard there are copy cat products out.

Great section of arbors including the new 929 along with moon clips. I recently bought a Ruger Speed Six in 9mm. Purchased some moon clips from TK. Not having a correct sized arbor I sent in a moon clip. Less than a week later I received a custom made arbor for the Ruger clips. Same price as a regular stocked item. I couldn't even think about using anything else.

Deluxe Moon Clip Tool

BMT Equipped, Inc.

Not the cheapest, just the best. I use them in 357/38 8 shot, 45acp 6 shot and 357/38 J 5 shot.

^This. Blows the others away completely. Not the cheapest, but you'll thank me after the 1st use!

Full disclaimer: I've got bad arthritic hands and this is the only tool that will work without causing pain while loading/unloading moon clips, so I'm a bit biased! If you fall into this category, the BMT is worth its weight in gold.

All these specialty mooner tools look fantastic!

I'm thankful to have the option of loading .45 AutoRim brass too.

Another vote for BMT. One of the few products I've stumbled into that I can't think of a single way I could improve it.

I tried some other tools, but the BMT is by far the fastest. When loading up several hundred rounds or more the BMT tool is my choice. I have two; .45 acp and .38/.357.
