Local Farm Store

Friend ask me to go to the farm store near him to help pick up some chickens for his and a couple of his friends small gentleman farms .. he had a motive as last year when they bought some over half were roosters as he had bought unsexed chicks and you take the luck of the draw unless you know how to tell the difference ..

This year the store had bought hens and roosters already divided so I went wondering around the store and ended up at the gun area .. they had some decent price on a few revolvers and smaller 38 autos ..

Then looked at the AR ammo and found a pleasant surprise .. prices very reasonable but the selection was out standing in the different grains by numerous manufacturers .. both target and match grade .. much better selection then the 2 big box sporting good stores in the area .. they had a 4 by 5 foot area of shelves full of 223/556 .. ample supply of everything displayed .. lots of different 22 ammo there also ..

Found a new place to buy ammo !!

So ended up picking up some 223 ammo, seed potato's, and some onion sets .. and my friend got 50 chicks .. and a couple of bags of feed and grit ..

WOW 50 chicks? He is doing it big it sounds like.
I thought about getting into the chicken/egg raising. I buy local fresh eggs for $3 a dozen so I figured I will pass on doing it myself. Around here the hawks, snakes and other critters have put many out of the chicken business.

No farm stores in Brooklyn, but I loved taking the extended family on outings in my '65 Polara w/383ci. Got 8MPG. Would pile eleven family members in (mostly chicks, of the big hair variety), and it still rode great. Everyone sat on the hood and trunk, and the sheet metal never flexed. :)

You can find a lot of cool stuff in rural area farm/feed stores. The older the store the more eclectic the finds.

We in a rural place too. The Ace hardware sells ammo and chicks too. They have a huge case of Case knives and others. I will be getting my Case Tiny Trapper there.
