Should the pin (locking bolt in the barrel underlug) that locks into the front of the ejector rod have a snug fit? I have a revolver that I noticed the pin drops into the ejector rod when closing the cylinder, but there is some free space betwen the pin the rod, allowing the cylinder not to shut tightly. I'm thinking either the pin is worn or the inside of the ejector rod might be worn out some. Should the pin be contacting and applying slight tension to the inside of the ejector rod at all times when the cylinder is closed?

The locking bolt should hold and center the extractor rod so that the crane-tro-frame-gap is minimal. If the gap opens when you press the cylinder to the left, the fit is too loose. The locking bolt protrusion is adjusted by removing it and filing the forward edge of the pin clearance gap, allowing it to protrude into the ejector rod more. Clean off filings and burrs of course, before reassembly.
