Purple or blue on cylinder release on my 686-6 plus performance center? Screw has the dried blue, but works loose after a few rds.

Either blue or purple would be fine. Be sure to de-grease the threaded portion of the bolt and the inside of the nut, then put a small amount of the threadlocker on the threads inside the nut using a toothpick.
You don't want excess threadlocker to wick down into the action, so leave the gun thumbpiece side down for the material to dry overnight.

Before using Locktite, I'd replace the screw. That screw should definitely not become loose after a few rounds!!!!!
After 40 years of owning plenty of Smiths, I've never had that screw just come loose after just a few rounds. Are you sure it has been correctly tightened? Just saying.......:o

I'd bet a new screw would solve your problem and if not I'd replace the Bolt. Both inexpensive parts and again, they are not usually parts that work themselves loose after only a few shots.

Not sure if tight to begin with as it was brand new and I didn't check it. Cleaned and lubed and went shooting.

In that case, I'd tighten it properly with the correct type and size hollow ground screwdriver and see if it stays that way. If it loosens after tightening properly then I'd call smith and ask them to send you out a new one. If the problem persists, then I'd ask them to send you a new Bolt also which is what the Thumb Latch is attached to.

As you did not check it out of the box, more than likely they left it loose. I'd check the other screws while you're at it.
