What is the best way to remove small socket cap screws that may be Red Loctite, they hold a barrel weight on a PPC revolver
Thanks

"The process of knowing how to remove red threadlocker is a little different than for other threadlockers. The key is to apply localized heat greater than 250°C (550° F").

Course were talking about a delicate gun barrel. Trying this only if your well familiar with heat control (Heat Sinks) to keep the heat localized.

Hopefully it is not "locked in" and you have the right tool that fits well in your gun box, which you should try first!

Heat

I suggest applying heat to the Screw Head.
Buy a Soldering Iron with a needle point.

Apply heated needle point to the screw head,
it will take a little bit of time but keep applying
until screw loosens up. Be patient.

Picture of what worked for me. Used for a
scope ring screw.

^ Norseman nails it...best way.

As a general statement, I'd say NEVER EVER use Red Loctite on any firearm. Please note that there ARE other brands of thread lockers that are red, but they are NOT Loctite and do not exhibit the same strength as Loctite brand.

Chinese, Japanese and other Countries use different color codes - just like on electronic wiring. Color codes are not standard in electronic wiring and other items as well. Neither are thread lockers.

Red Stuff

Vibra-Tite VC-3, (S&W) screw thread lock
proprietary blend of thermoplastic elastomer
resins designed to remain flexible and absorb
vibration.

I found this in my Notes, and thought I’d
pass it along.
