Don't know if you all have seen this but a new Lone Ranger movie is due out this summer. Looks interesting and Johnny Depp is Tanto. Watched a trailer last night at the movies looks like a go for me.

Yes, only Jay Silverheels will ever be Tonto for me.

If you ever see, "Captain From Castile", made about 1947 and starring Tyrone Power, look for Silverheels playing an Aztec. I think he was actually a Chippewa or Cree.

I'm not too thilled with the idea of Johnny Depp playing any role, let alone this one. Who's playing the Lone Ranger, Ryan Seecrest? Mario Lopez?

Supposedly no one really knew what clayton moore looked like. He never took his mask off. Years ago I was watching a old gangster movie and reconised his voice. I checked the credits and sure enough, it was him. Probley when he was first starting out.

It just seems to me that if you take a big-name star, and give him a supporting role, unless the STAR of the show is a huge-name star, this will not be "THE LONE RANGER and Tonto", but will be "TONTO and the masked man".

In the new movie Tonto is wearing a bird on his head. Is this supposed to be a comedy?

Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels...the rest are cheap imitations.

He was also a heavy in the Commando Cody serial "Radar Men From The Moon" (1952). Would never have recognized him except for that most distinctive voice.

Clayton Moore was also in "Davy Crockett, Indian Scout" starring Jon Hall and Dana Andrews

You know, I've been looking for a new ringtone for my cell phone. That theme song gives me an idea....

Remember Jon Hall as, "Ramar of the Jungle"? One of my favorite TV shows as a kid.

He had what appeared to be a Mannlicher-Schoenauer carbine. Sidearm was a Colt, either an Official Police or New Service.

Back then, many TV heroes had guns. In recent times, I think only, "The Lost World" had armed heroes who weren't cops or soldiers. And it was set in the 1920's.

I know someone that will sharpen it. ;)

Oh, no! Not me!

It took me over six weeks to get all of the xiphos' and dorys ready for the movie '300.' That bronze took hours to scrub out of my waterstones and then Zack Synder stiffed me on the gratuity!

Get 'um up Scout! The Lone Ranger forever.

Charlie

agree...
but.. using the originals would make for an interesting movie

I believe Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels are both deceased. That's going to slow up the action considerably.

BTW, Claytom Moore was in other movies. I remember him from childhood. I recognized his voice.

Jay Silverheels and Clayton Moore the only ones. As far a Johnny Depp goes, I detest him in anything.

I've still got the "silver bullet" the real Lone Ranger gave me back about 1949.

Plumb wore the "silver" off. Pull the back of the case off and there is a compass inside. Din't learn that until about 10 years ago.

Johnny Depp as Tonto?

Just saw the trailer to the Disney production of The Lone Ranger. Talk about messing with your icons! I mean, I never thought I'd see Johnny Depp in a Disney movie.

With out me looking it up, How much makeup did he have on this time?

I just looked at the trailer. The Lone Ranger and a pirate road warrior?

I believe old Johnny does like the makeup.

When are we getting a "Shakes Head" icon?

I do admit it looks like a good movie and Johnny's a pretty good actor or is that a pretty actor. I've enjoyed a few of his movies.

I know that it is Hollywood and all, and I know none of it is real, but I just can't understand grown men wearing makeup. I just don't get it, reckon I'm too old fashioned.

Is it true that Mr. Depp will carry 2 Glocks as the Lone Ranger and Tonto will carry a Beretta 92 and a boy scout knife ?
