Long time forum member DanM needs help

Often, the SSA will break up what is owed to you, so that you can't go out and blow it all at once.

"That's how it worked for me. I filed for SS and SSD when I turned 62. It only took 8 months to be approved for SSD .
They made up the difference in 1 lump sum . I never got a lawyer so it might of been faster if I did."

If you got approved in 8 months, THAT is real dang good. It takes many folks a year or more to get approved. The only time an approval is quicker is if you are about to die from some disease.

Lawyers got up to 20% or so, AND they get paid first. :(

Went and visited Dan this afternoon. Turns out that he only lives about 20 miles from me. We talked a bit.

He's doing well as can be expected. Still hasn't received his first SSN check.

So he could still use our help. He doesn't visit the forum much because of his eyesight. So he asked me to thank everyone again.

Thank you for the update. Hopefully the first check will arrive soon, until then yes, help if you can. I knew that we would but I have learned over the years to expect such a thought from Wendy and I have to agree with her on we have enough to help out for someone in need.

This is my last bump. Hopefully Dan will see the SSD tomorrow. If I hear different I'll let everyone know.
