Very cool, guys. I think this is going to be a BIG seller for Smith. Maybe it will open their eyes and they'll change more/all of them back. I owned an IL 442 a few years ago and sold it because of the lock concerns (yes, I'm an admitted paranoid). I missed it ever since, so when these became available, I knew I had to snag one.

I also got one when it first came out a couple months ago, also got the no lock 642. Last week I got a set of Crimson Trace LG405s for each of them, AMAZING difference in shooting them now!

If not, will regular j-frame stocks and a Tyler T-Grip fit on the gun?

It comes with the same rubber boot grips as a number of the J-frames now do. You can see them in this photo from the S&W web site.

Yes, any regular J-frame grips will fit on it as well as J-frame accessories like the Tyler T-grip.

I got mine from my local police supply, I bought 2 642 Smiths.
The 442 & 642 both can be had in no-lock.

JT, have your dealer give RSR Group a call. They have 222 model 442's (no IL) in stock as I type this.

Yes laminnated Custom Magna gunshop wood grips and Tyler t-grip fit mine perfect. I like the look and feel.
