A Kubota L3400 hydrostatic loader/backhoe, 7 years old with less than 200 hours on it. Old school controls and pre emissions, 34 HP. It will be my first tractor, we have 10 acres in the foothills. Will need to get a box scraper and brush hog eventually. I have read a tractor thread on this site, Any comments would be welcomed and appreciated.

The Kubota L3400 is a decent small tractor. It has everything you need and nothing extra to tear up. You have 29HP at the PTO that will handle a 5' Bush Hog.
If it has the R4, or turf tires, you might want to consider replacing them with AG tires, especially if your land is not flat. The R4s can break loose in snow, on hills and in mud. If they break loose on a hill, you are riding a sled.

A tractor with 200 hours is just broken in.
I bought a used Kubota L4600 and loader with 200 hours for the same price as new similarly equipped L3800 and loader. A week later I told my dealer it was the worst mistake I had ever made, because I figured I'd catch up on all my wife's projects in 6 months or so. When she saw what it would do, she booked me for 2 more years with an option to extend.
It has industrial tires, which do not have the traction as an ag tire, but they won't chew up the yard like an ag tire. It has done all I've needed including: pulling off fallen trees; moving dirt; cutting the pasture; clearing thickets, etc. I've pushed huge piles of limbs, vines and other debris over 200 yards with it.
Kubota makes a great machine.

I bought a new four-wheel drive L3400 with bucket, box blade, and brushcutter in about 2004. I used it for five years and sold everything for not too much less than it had originally cost when we decided to sell our place in the country.
Only tractor I ever owned and would certainly buy another just like it if I needed a small tractor. I don't know tire designations, but mine had regular tractor-type tires. I had a manual transmission, which I prefer. I did the (very minimal) recommended maintenance and never had any problems. A ten-gallon tank of diesel would probably last ten hours.

You'll Love the Kubota!
I bought my Kubota L3400 HST in 2011 to use on my property up in Tennessee. As you'll see in the pic, the first thing I did was take off the 'turf' tires (fine for Florida flat-land work, lousy for TN hills), and installed an Ag set (you can still see the paper stickers on the new tires). This Kubota (a 2006 model with 122 hrs on it when I bought it) was my first big investment in my Tennessee project, and I feel that in the last 7 years it has already paid for itself. I use the bushog to mow, and the front bucket & box blade to turn wide trails into gravel roads.
The best thing I've added to it has been a factory canopy cover that attaches to the ROPS. Next I'll be buying a 5' cultivator. I'm about 2 years from making the permanent transition from FL to TN, and I want to use the Kubota to help me lay in a big garden plot, and the cultivator will be a big help. Post hole digger/auger after that.
If you'll be mowing with the tractor on even slightly hilly or uneven ground, drop off the front bucket! The L3400 is a great little tractor, but it has a 'skinny' footprint, and the front loader raises the CG considerably, even in a lowered position.
The tractor in the 3rd pic is my 1950 Oliver Row Crop 66, relegated to parade duties.

My neighbor across the street ran the local Kubota dealership. My mower is a Kubota. Several of the tractors owned by the local municipality are Kubota. You can't go wrong with one of these. Well built, long lasting, and very user friendly . . .

Aside from a house, the biggest purchase I'd ever made prior to 1980 was this Kubota B7100 hydro 3 cyl diesel compact. I've since had 3 Kubotas and one Kioti (a Korean Kubota clone). All were great machines. I wish I had a reason to buy another. 
How much trouble will it be to unhook from the backhoe so you can hook up to a box scrapper and bush hog? Larry

The boys and I have 3 Kubotas of differing sizes. We have a BX24 which is actually not the most stable thing in the world with the bucket and backhoe but dang it is handy. It is less than 4' wide so it went into my FILs back yard several times while he was alive. We use it for pulling roots, planting flowers (weeds), burying dogs and other road kill, and other stuff too heavy for a wheel barrow. We have an L3130 which is what I use most of the time. Great on fuel and is number one for bush- hogging, fluffing, and raking hay. The biggest is an MX5100, which we use for hay cutting and bailing along with picking up logs to move to the sawmill. Should have got the 4wd on the 5100 since it will pickup enough to get the rear tires off the ground. Our counterweight is an old box blade with 4 engine blocks welded to it and some times it still needs more.
Never had a problem with any of the three. Just keep them serviced and use a little common sense in their use and they will last. And like rockquarry said the 3400s, 3130s etc get good fuel economy. The 3130 will bushhog for 10-12 hrs on a single tank of fuel.

I've had a L2800 since 2006. It's only 24 HP, but on my 10 acres it's all I need. It's pushing 300 hrs, almost all of it pulling a bush hog. I do go overboard on the maintenance, and keep it in a barn when not in use. The ONLY problem I've had with it was a hydraulic return hose broke. The problem must be so common that they keep the hoses behind the service desk. I've had Ford and JD in the past - nothing comes close to my Kubota. You'll love it. I promise.

I have owned a number of Kubota's and liked them all. I currently have a F3680 front deck mower that I use on our 10 acres and love it. Change the oil, grease it, and check the air filter regularly and it will serve you well. The only problem these days is finding good dealer support when you need it. Here, there are a bunch of kids that make me feel like I am paying to educate them on the equipment. This is the story with almost all the dealers these days. Nobody wants to go into the maintenance business.
