While visiting friends in a town a little over an hour away from home for the Thanksgiving Day weekend, my buddy and I visited the LGS, a small one man shop.

We had visited this shop back in October while visiting then. At that time the shop had a model 48-4, with box that looked to be in unfired condition. Or at least had a very few rounds through it. I didn't buy it, but it had been on my mind since then. And I had regretted not purchasing it.

So, this visit I took funds, thinking that if it was still there I would purchase it. I also figured I would see if there was any negotiating on the price.

So we go back on Friday, and to my surprise it's still in the case. He gets it out again so I can look. While I am trying to decide on the 48-4, the shopkeep sets down a M&P, 2" Stubby. Very nice condition, minimal ware.

Short story is, I got a "Black Friday" Special. He gave me $50 off both if I bought both. I think the pricing on both was fare.

I wish I had a local shop with stuff like that! Beautiful revolvers, congrats.

Very rarely in town do I find any S&W revolvers as most of mine were bought at gun stores or Gun Broker. You were very lucky to find two beauties at one shop.

I'm thinking late 40's early 50's on the 2". Maybe a long action in the S9xx,xxx. series. Nice pick up

If you're happy with what you got, for what you paid, I think you got a good deal.
Those are too nice to pass up. I'd have bought them.

Now, if I can come up with a pair of stainless K frame extractor pins and a couple of blued L frame extractor pins, I'll be great.

B-E-UTIFUL!! I especially like the 2". Awesome! I prefer the round butts, but I'm afraid I wouldn't have walked out of that shop without that one!

I am thinking about 1950, It is a C prefix, number 92,xxx

Thank you. It wouldn't have lasted very long once he had placed it in the case.

More likely a 49 dated gun with a 5 digit serial number. Maybe someone here has one lettered in or near that range.

Cool.

I have yet to find a shop willing to negotiate. Granted their prices are very fair to begin with but the gun can sit there for a year or more and they won't budge.

I'm certainly no authority on k-frames, but that hammer doesn't look like a long-action model to me.
I sure like that half-moon front sight.
