Looking for 9mm load data.

I'm looking for some accurate loads for a 9mm. Components will be 115 gr Berry plated LRN, CCI small pistol primer, range brass, and Winchester AutoComp. I will be shooting this through a M&P9 4.25" barrel.

I currently load 4.4 gr now with a OAL of 1.10" and it's okay but would like to know other peoples experience with AutoComp.

Any info would be appreciated.

With this newer powder I'd start with the manufacturer's data. I load that bullet, 115 grn plated RN with 4.2 grains of H Titegroup. It works fine & shows 1087 fps out of a Glock with a KKM 'conversion' barrel.

This is what I loaded up with that same lead, very disappointed in the results.

Primarily Winchester Brass
115 gr. Berry's Plated
4.5 gr. W231
CCI#500 Primers
OAL: 1.165"
Crimp: .376"

Was concerned that I might have been over-crimping, as I was getting some pressure running the bullet through the crimp/seat die. I adjusted my seat/crimp die. Now crimping .377". Think this may have relieved some of the pressure on the plating, as the bullet ran more smoothly in the seat/crimp die.

*I pulled 3 sample rounds from Winchester White Box 115 gr. FMJ. The OAL varied from 1.161 to 1.167, and the crimp all seemed to be .375"

**Fired the 100 rounds of 9mm with Berry's 115 gr. plated. The group was at best self-defense, but POI was about 6-8" below POA. Doubt I will purchase these leads again as I am at the highest powder charge, with the powder I currently own--and hitting well below POA at 10 yards. They did feed & cycle well in my S&W 5906, as I didn't have 1 malfunction.

Western Powders has load data on their web site specifically for plated bullets such as Berry's and Rainier. The data is for Accurate and Western powders. Check the Hodgdon powder site as well. Bob!

I've loaded the same bullet with the tightgroup. I want to say 4.5 grains with an OAL of 1.125. I've had good performance out of it. I don't have a chrono but it groups well out of my PPQ and Shield.

4.5 sounds reasonable, don't have my COL right here. Mine were mostly for plinking & target and I wanted a fair margin from the topside. With my chrony average of 1087 I am content with performance.

4.0gr. Titegroup,,1.130 c.o.l.,,.375 neck,, berrys 115gr rn. M&P 9 & 9c. Drops the brass in a nice pile( great for pickin it up) and accuracy out to 15yds is all in a 3in. group. I would say a better shooter would do better with this ammo.

Never used Berry's, but I use X-Treme plated round nose bullets which have a very thick plating on them.

4.2gr Ramshot Zip, 115gr X-Treme PRN, CCI/Federal/Winchester primers, reclaimed Fiocchi (G.F.L stampled) and random range brass, 1.150-1.153 OAL. Plunks right in to my Sigma 9ve barrel or in to the much loser Glock 17 barrel. No FTL, FTF, FTE.

I have great results with the above recipe. Very accurate.

That's almost the exact load I shoot in my XDM except using Alliant Bullseye. I'm not a sharpshooter by any means but have been satisfied with this load.

AutoComp has become my go to powder for 9mm & 380. The cleanest burning powder I have loaded into these 2 calibers. That said, I like 3N38 for 147 gr bullets in 9mm. I have some really hot loads using that powder with Hornady 147 XTPs. They are a boat tail bullet so you can run higher velocities (more powder and less surface contact area for weight). I'm getting 1130 fps in my HK P30 and 1085 in a Walther PPS.This is the first supersonic 147 gr load I have ever seen!!

The Hodgdon (Winchester) load data tables are very good. Berry's recommends using lead data for their plated bullets. Using 115 gr. LRN data shows you at the low end at 4.4 grains. You can safely work it up to 5.1. Keep the crimp to a minimum or they will strip the plating.

+1 on the 3N38 for 147 XTPs, have not chronied but Vhit data suggests 1200 fps in my 5" 1911. Supersonic, SAAMI and not +P

I use AutoComp in 40 S&W, I like it alot. I have also used W231, and Clays Universal. AutoComp is much better. I'm not fond of Berry's Bullets. Use the Winchester load data, but I find I use similar grs in all three powders. Not a recommendation necessarily.

I shoot a 92FS with a KKM slow twist barrel for service pistol matches.

The load is on the test target.
50 yds one handed bullseye style.
Iron sights.
I am not a great shooter, but I have my moments.

I checked my notes and the only place I have used Autocomp with 9mm, is with this load;

Case - Remington + P (new)
Case length - .754"
Primer - Winchester WSP
Bullet - Hornady - 124g XTP JHP .355" dia.
Bullet length - .575"
Powder - Winchester "AutoComp"- 4.5g
Powder range - 4.2g up to 4.9g
Powder burn rate - #36 (Hodgdon chart)
Velocity - 962.5 fps.
Bullet seating OAL - 1.060"
Crimp - Light/medium
Test Gun(s) - Glock 19 w/4.02" barrel and Glock 26 w/3.46" barrel

This is a very accurate round out of both of my Glocks and will also come in handy in case of a Zombie attack.
