I'm trying to help a brother stuck behind enemy lines in Cali, retired LEO.

He wants a 9mm 4.25" conversion barrel for an M&P 1.0 40SW. Storm Lake quit making it. So now he's looking for NOS. The link below is a 5" on gun .deals search. Somebody else may have made this conversion barrel ... not sure who. Any info welcome, thanks.

I have been trying to find one as well. It appears that Storm Lake has discontinued the 40-9 conversion barrel and KKM shows to be out of stock.

I swapped out the .40S&W barrel with a stock S&W 9mm barrel. After thousands of rounds I found a failure to eject rate of about 1 in 200 or so. If you use the stock .40 cal magazine it may lock the slide back with one round still in the mag. No problems when changed to a 9mm magazine.

KKM makes the conversion barrel
Full 40S&W to 9MM – KKM

Thanks for that tip. The gentleman at KKM explained that they're going into production with that in a couple weeks or so.

And as for Storm Lake, he said they were bought by Remington and only make in-house barrels now.

And yes, you can drop a 9mm barrel in a 40SW and it will cycle and fire, but it will be loose. It works if the zombies are coming up the driveway, as it were...

There are many, many members who converted theirs to 9mm by swapping to the factory 9mm barrel. I don't know of anyone who complained of it "being loose". Mine certainly wasn't. The accuracy was on a par with a stock M&P9. However buying "custom made" stuff is cool I guess. Not necessary but you get to tell everyone it's custom. I am editing this to add a caveat. I'm not trying to guarantee that you will have zero problems and bet your life on it. But, at 99% reliable doing a conversion is perfect for target shooting and plinking.

Earlier this year, I bought a Storm Lake 40-9mm 4.25" conversion barrel to use with my M2.0 compact. I found it NOS on Gunbroker. It has been flawless thus far. I looked around on e-Bay and GB before finally finding the one I bought. I seem to remember that some were a bit pricey but the one I bought was $115 which I thought was fine.

I just purchased a OEM S&W 9mm barrel for my .40 cal for $79.99 from Midway USA.....they also have the best prices for 9mm magazines......
