Hi Folks,
I am looking for a good, economical bipod for my 15-22. This is my first rifle and therefore my first AR style rifle. I have a hi-power scope for it so next up is the bi-pod, then after that I am not sure what toy to bolt onto it.

There are two very important lessons to be learned when it comes to firearms and their accessories:
1. Buy cheap, buy twice
2. An accessory that can be shared saves money.

I bought this for my 15-22

Harris S-LM Bipod Leg Notch Sling Swivel Stud Mount 9" to 13" Black - MidwayUSA

I could have bought something cheaper, and it might have worked just fine. The thing is, I've never found myself sitting at the range with my Harris bipod wishing I'd spent less. If I'd bought cheaper, I may very well have wished I'd spent more. Also, the Harris bipod works perfectly with my 5.56 rifle that I bought later, saving me from spending more money on a sturdier bipod. Just something to think about.

Look into a leapers bi-pod, cheap. Amazon has them. I like mine for whn im bench shooting, get the longest one for the magazine to not hit the bench.

I just picked up the UTG low profile.

Under $25, and got free shipping.

UTG Low-Profile Deluxe Universal Picatinny & Swivel-Stud Bipod

Overall not bad... not too bulky and doesn't seem to weigh the gun down.

^This.^

I got a $25 gift certificate to Amazon from my job for some silly thing, and
started rummaging. Came across this and love it.

Used the swivel/Picatinny on my Marlin 795, pop it off of there and on
to the M&P in 30 seconds.

Good stuff, Maynard...

I don't think this will work, come to think of it, on a 15-22 cause it's not a rail bipod but a sling stud bipod- A week ago today, last Friday I found a $40 Winchester 9"-13" bipod at Walmart- exactly like a Harris but not $100 and I put it on my Remington 597 (a scoped rifle 597, "sporter" version) and it's the truth- really nice. Maybe it's not a Harris, the only thing I seen about Harris about how they're nicer is they "Mount better and tighter" , maybe thats true. All I have to do is hand - tighten a little screw, if and when it loosens up. Just hand twist the thing, to snug it better, and it was $40 not $100.

So I love Harris as much as the next guy, but this Walmart $40 bipod made a huge difference on my 597. Again in retrospect I don't think it would work on the 1522, cause only rail-mounted ones would work right?

(And let me ask you this: it's not an Optic, it's not a big deal, What's the harm in an NcStar or UTG bipod rather than Harris? $20 bucks is a lot less than $100.....I'm not SAYIN, I'm just sayin...)
