What's up guys (and gals:))? I am taking a shot in the dark here on my quest to find a long lost NCSHP Model 686 that once belonged to my father who retired from the NCSHP. I don't have much info to go on, other than it was last known to be in the Henderson, NC area and may have possibly been sold to a gun collector in that area. If you think you might be able to help, please DM me. Thanks!

Any way your dad can contact personnel and get a copy of his records? You'll need the serial for an effective search.

Unfortunately I can't find any record with a serial number for that pistol on it. I was hoping that the pistol still had the box with it, whoever has it, and I'd bet his name or call number was written on it.

Are you sure it was a 686? They also carried a 66 before the 686. Any identifying features one the gun in question? I have a good friend that is a retired trooper who hails from High Point.

Yes sir. He sold it when they transitioned to the Beretta.

From what I understand that is perhaps the hardest NCHP duty gun to find, the 686.

I echo what Ladder 13 said. I have seen quite a few of the 50th anniversary commemoratives, the Model 66's, Berettas and Sigs, but I think I've only ever seen one of the 686 SHP guns.

I don't believe the SHP still has records of the older guns, as I have talked to people who have inquired.

For some reason very few Troopers turned them loose.

Good luck in your search and welcome to the forum from Apex.

Bill
