Hi guys,

I am in a quandary about my little .32 Top Break revolver. I bought the revolver at least 10 years ago. On the outside it is in excellent condition. On the inside, not so much. I had an issue with it working ok in double action mode but not in single action. If you cocked the hammer it would not stay cocked.

I sent it off to a well known gunsmith and that did not work out for me. I got the gun back without all of the parts and not in working condition.

I was so pissed off about that situation that I could not look at that gun for a few years. Now I am finally over that senario and would like to get my little gem back in working order.

My big problem is that I do not know what it is missing. I have been on the egunparts web page to look at the scematic they have and the picture quality is so bad that I can't make heads or tails of the parts shown. Is there anywhere else you guys would suggest looking for resources?

One of the items that I do know that I need is the pin that goes through the back of the trigger guard. I anyone has an extra of those I would be interested.

I would appreciate any advise on this. Thanks in advance.

Jay

You might look on eBay, gunpartauction.com, gunbroker.com and gunpartscorp.com. Jackfirstgun.com makes some replica parts as well. Schematics are usually available on gunpartscorp.com (Numrich). Jim (Hondo44) has posted a list of parts sources here before. So, you might want to do a forum search for it. If you intend to do repair work on other older S&W guns, David Chicoine has a couple of books on repairing them with schematics and instructions. Might be worth buying a copy for reference. If all that fails, you can always post a classifieds ad here and other forums in case someone has what you need in their parts box.

You don't mention which 32 top break it is, but David Chicoine wrote a book, "Antique Firearms, Assembly / Disassembly". 32 Double Actions are listed on page 184-186 and a complete parts listing with pictures. You can determine what you have or don't have, then go to finding those you don't have.

I believe the book is available on Amazon.
