Hey folks what's up?
Wow with social media getting so big I will admit it's been a while since I've stopped by! [emoji17] My apologies!
While I may have drifted from the forum I did not drift from the brand! In fact my love for S&W may have increased during my absence! [emoji108]
So on to my question!
I am about to purchase a 44 mag revolver. My optimal plan is to take it out hunting a few times while calling predators and stalking hogs.
When not hunting I would love to try my hand a LONG range plinking! Maybe out to 200 yards and beyond.
Two that have caught my eye are, the 629PC and the 629PC Magnum Hunter.
While the Magnum Hunter definitely has it's pluses and is "tacticool", part if me really love the classic look of the 629PC.
But here is where I want your advice. I've been hearing a lot of chatter about the "barrel cant" issues on the 686s and other models including the Performance Center ones and I've honestly become a bit concerned. So is this maybe a machine problem that was caught a bit to late or is it a QC issue in general? Should I go on a treasure hunt for a nice older model or has this issue been resolved. And by issue I'm not speaking specifically about the barrel issue but the quality issue in general.
And before it starts I'm not asking about pre or post lock, MIM parts or pinned barrels.
I know what is involved in making the current models and don't have the least bit of a problem with it.
I'm asking more about your opinion, as one who frequents this particular forum, if your faith in the current production has deminished.
Am I simply stressing only because I'm about to spend a grand or is there some legitimacy to the concern?
Thanks for any help! [emoji106]
