Hey everyone,

New member here. I will be getting my first handgun soon, and I've got it narrowed down to the M&P 9mm and the Gen3 Glock 19. Right now, I'm really leaning towards the M&P. I really like the feel, the sights, the looks, the availability of a thumb safety, etc. The only thing that is holding me back is I've read a lot of stuff online saying that the M&P is not nearly as reliable as the Glock. As much as I like the M&P, the thing that draws me to the Glock is that it's got a rock solid reputation for reliability.

I realize that you have to take what you read online with a grain of salt, and there are lots of reviews that say the M&P is extremely well made. I was just hoping that people who have the M&P could weigh in with their thoughts.

Reliability is very importance in carry pistols, are you looking at a carry or range only pistol?

I don't know where you are hearing the M&P's are not reliable. All guns have their pros and cons, but reliability is not an issue in either brand. I doubt you would find reliability an issue in any major brand of guns. An issue here and there is possible, especially in a new model, but not a reliability problem in any major brand gun that has been on the market for a year or more.
