Last winter I got in touch with a forum member that graciously allowed me to use his cyclinder hones on my 940. I have somehow lost contact with him and have been waiting to hear from him that I may send the hones to the next user or back to to the owner. He is in Louisville, KY and the last I heard from him was when he sent me pics of the ice storm devastation in his area. I have his hones and want to get them back to him. Help? Thanks!

There was a guy a month or so ago looking for his lost hones. Do a search on "hones" and see if it is the same person you are looking for.

You need to PM Headknocker (Gary). They probably belong to him.

I had a thread running for a long time asking for thier return.. I lost the contact info myself..

Zilmo Thanks again Buddy for the Hone Drive..
I figured they would show up eventualy..
Anybody that wants to use these hones email me & we'll get them coming your way.. I still have quite alot of the Flex Hone Oil.. I also have several new sets of hones, Thanks to Zilmo & Many Others in 9/38/357-.41cal 44cal 45acp & 45LC..
The 38/357/9mm hones worked wonders in my 686..
I made myself a scraper from a spent 357 Brass Case that I drilled the primer pocket out to accept a 8/32 screw & put a nut on the outside & cut the bolt down so I could attache it to a cleaning rod, I then expanded the case & sharpened the inside casemouth with a tapered reamer & now have a great tool for starting the carbon removal process in 357 chambers..
The 686 I was cleaning had saw several hundred/thousand rounds of 38spl without the ledge being cleaned & was caked on something fierce.. I bought the revolver used & realy don't know how many rounds were shot without a propper cleaning..I spent over two hours on the cylinder soaking it with Hoppes #9 with a Q-Tip & useing my "Tool" then a piece of Bronze Wool/Chore Boy around an old 30cal brush chucked in my cordless drill on slow speed + Lots of Hoppes got it all but spotless, I then followed up with the Brownells Flex Hones to give the chambers a very uniformed crosshatch pattern..
I bet I used 50/100 patches total..
I was looking down each chamber with an eye loupe with a borelight & could see all the carbon that had built up like a stairstep..
Thought I'd share the Tool made from a spent case..
It realy worked well, Much better than a Bore brush for getting the main burnt on carbon/lead out of the cylinders holes..
Here's a Crappy Pic of it I took while doing the cleaning
Now I gotta make one up in 356TSW/38 Super/9x23 for cleaning my 940 after shooting 9mms..

Gary, great idea for a chamber fouling cleaner and thanks for sharing it! Now I gotta go make one.

I was thinking about taking the plunge and doing this job myself. Had it done on my 686. Is honing your own really just a matter of drill and honing brushes?
I recently bought a model 60-10 and there is a bit of hang on trying to eject spent ones.

With the brush, do you need a brace/mount to hold the cylinder steady or is it as simple as running it throught the cylinder like cleaning barrels?
Im thinking about buying my own set for future purchases and buddy usage as well.

Thanks for info

I have a cylinder question, hopefully one of you will give me an answer. I have a Model 60, can it be modified to shoot 9mm rounds? If it can, who can you reccomend that will do the work. Thanks.

When honeing a cylinder it is best to remove it from the revolver first, This will keep any rubbish & slurry from the honeng proccess from getting on the weapon..
You simply remove the most farward side plate screw which is also the end shake screw with a propper fitting paralell screwdriver, open the cylinder up & while holding the cylinder still pull the crane/yolk toward the front, The instalation is in the reverse order..
I would hold the cylinder in a padded vise with some rags around the piece to absorb any extra oil as it's messy, I have some pieces of leather from an old belt that make a great pad to protect the cylinder from the vise jaws if a rubber jawed vise isn't available, In fact you could hold the cylinder to a table top with a C clamp if a vise isn't available as long as you pad it to prevent scarring the piece up..
You want to hone with the ejector/extractor star in place..
Coat the inside of each cylinder to be honed with hone oil with a Q-Tip & coat the hone with oil as well..
A slow speed drill is gonna be the best as you can't put back metal that you've removed, I use a cordless drill set on slow speed, You keep the hone moving in & out as your spinning it in the chamber to give a cross hatched pattern to the cylinder.
That's just about all there is to it.. If it's realy bad I'd start with the medium hone & finish with the fine one..
Clean Up is best with gun scrubber or Kero as the "Slurry" is messy stuff & best done outside, It's a combo of oil, silicone from the hones balls & removed metal, It looks like dirty gear oil.. I'd put a few drops of CLP on the yolks bearing surfaces & spin the cylinder on it several spins to distribute the oil evenly before reassembly..

There are several people who bore cylinders for 9mm convertions out there..
When I had my 940s cylinder reamed to 38 Super I had it done by Dave Manson @ Manson Presition Reamers, he makes alot of the reamers sold by Brownells & is also a forum member here, He did a great job & the price was hard to beat..
Here's his webpage, http://www.mansonreamers.com/
Give him an email & ask about boreing a 38spl to 9mm, I do know that once it's been done that 38s will stick if shot in that cylinder as the brass fire forms to the cylinder from what I've read here on the forum..

If anyone wants to "Barrow" any of the hones in my stash please email me..
I have 9mm/38/357, 41 cal, 44cal, 45lc & 45acp..
The 45LC hones are out being used currently
[email protected]

These hones were bought by the forum to replace the ones that I had that went missing & I would realy only ask for the S&H due to the fact I'm currently unemployed, A small Priority Box from the PO is $4.95 to just about anywere in the USA..

Many Thanks To Zilmo & the other forum members who stepped up to purchase the hones for me..
This is without a doubt the best Forum on the Internet..
