Looking for DOB on a 2" M&P

I have a 2" M&P marked "38 S.&W. SPC. CTG."
It is a 5 screw gun, square butt.
Serial # C 340XX

Does anybody know the year?

Should be 1948, maybe early 1949.

Any idea if the 2" barrel is a common configuration? Square butt snubbys just look funny to me. - JM.

I've got an old beat up 2 inch M&P (C 267XX) that I shoot often. They may look funny, but they shoot well. It's one of my favorite range guns.

I bought one about a week ago with a C prefix and a 6 digit SN# .
