Looking for a gunsmith to freshen up a smith 66-2 I recently purchased; I considered the performance center but they no longer refinish stainless smiths in their original brushed/satin finish, only bead blast or high polish.

Here's what I'm looking for:
Repair dinged front sight and pour new insert
Restore cylinder timing to original specs(I'm new to revolvers so don't know all of the terminology, but there is a bit of front to back play, and quite a bit of play side to side, I believe a new cylinder stop my bad needed)
Check all tolerances on internal components and return to factory apec(not looking for a trigger job, but damaged/worn parts to replaced and properly fitted)
Restore original brushed finish

Any recommendations for a smith that can perform this work?

I'm 25 miles northeast of Detroit; I already check with magnaport and they said they could re-pour a new sight insert but no longer do basic gunsmithing except on full custom work.

Actions by T down in Sugarland, TX may be able to help if you are willing to ship. Perhaps we have some members close by that can chime in with closer 'smiths.

LSG Mfg, in Comanche Texas. Former S&W Warranty Station before they were done away with. Worth a call.

Frank Glenn is one of the cheapest and fastest revolver smiths I know of. Not to mention probably the best out there still remaining.

Don't know if he would do the STS refinish, but the rest of the work Frank will do, and probably tackle it all in one day.

Gmbackus,

If you are going to SHIP the gun out then it doesn't really matter what State you send it to since the shipping will most likely be the same anyway. Go with the guy who you feel most comfortable with and can afford; there are a few good reco's here! Sorry, I have no real reco's for you since I do my own mechanical work.
