I inherited an S&W revolver, I know it is a Victory revolver, looking for help with more specifics if possible. Serial number is V29059, .38 special, hand ejector, 4" barrel, stamped "U.S. NAVY" on top of frame, fixed front sight, fixed notch rear sight, walnut grips with checked grip pattern and lanyard swivel. Four screws in the frame plus strain screw on grip.

Also, shortly moving to a country with strict anti-gun laws, so unfortunately selling a lot of firearms. Any opinions on the value of this revolver would be appreciated. It is in very good condition other than some minor pitting.

Thanks for the help.image.jpg

Nice looking gun. Grips are much more recent - original grips would have been smaller and uncheckered. Navy marked guns bring a bit more, so rough value of $600 if you are in the states.

As soon as I saw the photos, I thought re-finish (an easy tell) and probably cold blue.
Were it mine, I'd hunt some smooth grips, sell the diamond Magna grips, they should bring a good price.
Correct smooth grips can be had, there are number for sale on eBay right now $20-$40
The Magna's could bring twice that or more !

I'd also use white vinegar and carefully clean off the cold blue... leave the patina (don't polish)
It is a neat project and worth the effort.

Do that, and I see your NAVY marked gun bringing $600 maybe even more.

Those Diamond Magnas are aftermarket Sile and found at gun shows $10-15

What it is worth depends on local demand wherever you are, unless you sell it here or on an auction site. As-is, probably in the $400 range. A pawn shop might offer you half that. And I agree the grips appear to be aftermarket.
