Good Afternoon, I am 100% new to this forum so please forgive my lack of knowledge. I recently inherited an S&W .38 Chiefs Special and I'm not too familiar with the gun itself. I am really looking to get general information and help to appraise the firearm. I'll post numerous pictures that should have all the information to identify the condition. If any further information is needed just let me know and I will try to add it.

*Note: It's still functioning and fires amazingly at the range. It also has the original box! (Will comment with all pics)

Welcome, aohennigan

You have a very nice revolver there. It is actually a Model 36-1, which indicates the 3" heavy barrel. Assuming the stocks are original (and I'm sure they are), this gun was assembled and shipped sometime after about mid-year 1967. I believe that would agree with the serial number.

The box and gun are in fine condition. A wonderful inheritance.
