Looking for info on .45 ACP revolvers

Meeteetse could not have said it better. The weight and balance of the 4 inch and 3 inch 625's are just perfect I find that I am not fighting a heavy muzzle. I looked for a 3 inch 625 for two and a half years and finally was lucky enough to find one at the gun show. Occasionally I'll find one here; however, I was either a dollar short or a minute late each time.

Other than my 3 inch this 4 inch 625 PC is a dream to shoot. Accuracy is superb.

Backalow - The porting was by Mag-Na-Port. It really helps especially with the Spegel carry stocks.

The top gun here is a 1928 vintage Model 1917 Commercial variation. Its a bit rough, but you don't see many of these. It has since been fitted with a set of period correct non-medallion walnut stocks.

Early 60's 6 1/2" 25-2. Yes, I know the stocks are wrong, but its one of my favorite shooters. With light target loads its extremely accurate and a pure joy to shoot.

I'm gonna differ from others here. I do love my .45acp revolvers for paper punching. However, if I'm going to carry a .45acp for self defense, I much prefer it in a 1911.

45 acp revolvers are not common, and are sold at a steep premium for the reasons mentioned above. I have not seen one offered for under $700.

Many Thanks to everyone who replied here and took the time to post the great photos!(dragonfly, that is exactly what I'm looking for.)I had been leaning towards a 25-2,and after seeing the one that dragonfly posted the hunt is on! I can't wait till next month's gun shows.I also sense that once you own one chambered in .45 ACP you are very reluctant to let it go!Thanks again, guys.

By far the Model 25 is now one of my favorite shooters. Easy to shoot and very accurate.

Here is a pic of mine that I just recently found at one of my local gun shows. Good luck on your search.

Enjoy!

I made the grips myself from some wild black cherry.

I think your grips and the whole look is a 10.

Please share your grip info.

Beautiful!

I have two 625's (a 625-8 JM Special 4" and a 625-6 1989 5") and this is why I won't be selling mine EVER:

This is five shots standing at 25 yards on the NRA timed fire target. This was shot with the JM Special.

Those grips are by Craig Spegel. Just got them a few weeks ago. They're from an ebony board he had lying around. The 325PD and 625-6 have the same grips in rosewood.

I like to use .45 auto-rims. They increase reloading flexibility & you don't need those pesky moon clips.

A few handloads I brewed up.

CWP3A: Could you please email me concerning those autorims?

Thanks

Not much to tell, really. I had this small piece of wild black cherry and decided to see what it would look like finished out. I went with the Magna style because the piece was too small for anything bigger.

Had intended to add a Tyler T-Grip, but never got around to it.

I just looked at the CTC web site and did not see those CTC N frame stocks listed. What model are they?
