Most likely shipped around Sep/Oct 1972. Are you sure it's a 3"? Did you measure from the face of the cylinder to the end of the barrel? It should measure 4". Around here, we like pics, hint, hint!! :D

It is not 3 inch. measure again from face of cylinder.

Welcome to the FORUM! Sorry about you family loss. He or somebody must have liked you. I have yet to own a .44 Magnum. (am 63) Take that bad boy out & shoot it! Bob

I remeasured the barrel. 3 7/8 to the cylinder.
I appreciate the info. I have no idea what it's worth.
But it's priceless to me. I hunt wild pigs on the Buffalo
National river . all I've shot through it so far are 44 specials.
I think I'm going try some 240 grain magnums and see how they
Work on some big pigs.

I trying to post a picture. But I've had no success yet. I'm still figuring it out. Sorry you will have to bare with me. I'm extremely computer illiterate.

Four inches is the nominal length. It's not unusual if it varies a little one way or the other.

Very nice and desirable M29. I don't know the market now, but $1,000 would not be out of the question. $800 may be more reasonable.
