Looking for info on my .38 special

Welcome! It is a K-38 Masterpiece, and the serial number dates its production to early 1950. After 1957 it would have also been called a model 14.

I'd be willing to bet that if you remove the stocks the same serial number will be stamped on the right panel. I don't know what's happening with the speckles on the side plate. I'm sure someone here will know. My 5 digit wide rib K38 is one of my favorite range toys.

The spots on the side plate come mostly off.

And there is a sn under the stock.
