Been reading posts on here about Model 66 revolvers. I have a Model 66 that was my Grandfathers and I'd like to find some history on it. Also, I see where there is dash and no dash? Can someone explain that to me? Here's some pictures:

I'd like to have the gun polished and put a new grip on it to get it into a nice condition. It's got my Grandfather's initials engraved on it and has quite a bit of sentimental value. I believe he purchased it in the mid to late 70's? The serial Number is 215K668 Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the Forum, Square.

The "dash number" (i.e. 66-2 as the model number) indicates an engineering change of some sort from the original production version of the gun -- which is usually a "no dash" model number.

Your gun was packaged/shipped in in 1982 and should be a model 66-2.

Here's where to find the model number.

That is a great looking 66 you have there. I wouldn't do anything to that gun. she's perfect just the way she is. I would put a better set of grips on her for shooting and that is about it. If you swap the grips just make sure you don't lose those that came with it.

Yeah funny how it looks like that, the dash with the 2 overstamp. Maybe it was Friday afternoon.

Thanks for the advice! Was thinking of polishing it up shiny since I like the look. Where can I get a new set of grips?

Post a WTB in the Classifieds and you'll probably get a dozen offers pretty quick. That, or check out eVilBay - always grips there.
