Hey guys, new here, so I hope this is the right place to ask this. I am looking for info on my pistol.
S&W .38 special, Model 10-5, Serial # D4827XX, # inside yolk 17161. What can you tell me about this? Thanks in advance.

Probably made in early 1973. If it shoots where you aim it, it's a great gun. A lot of them were made, and they'll last forever. What else do you want to know?

I had one of the same vintage issued as a duty gun some years ago, it had a lot of holster wear but the trigger was pretty good. I was into shooting bowling pins back then, and managed to put a hair under 70,000 rounds through that gun in about five years. The hammer nose pivot pin broke at about 43K rounds, the gun was up and running the next day.

Those pin loads, BTW, were ALL plus-P, pretty warm handloads. After five years of steady pounding, that gun was still as tight as the day I got it.

I think you'll like yours.......and welcome to the forum.
