Curious what the experts here think of my first 44 magnum purchase. A few months ago I picked up a nearly perfect condition 14-4 for attempting to achieve Distinguished Revolver status over the next couple years. But, when I found this Performance Center 629-6 Hunter model I couldn't pass it up. The Nill grips obviously aren't factory, but I do have the original grips. Nor is the Leupold VX 2.5-8 x 32mm EER scope. So, how'd I do?

Hoping to get some time to shoot it over the next couple of weeks. I've got some factory stuff but am also going to load 240gr. XTP bullets. I had utterly no need for it, as I don't hunt, but just wanted it to play with.

I forgot to photo the test target. But, the gun, with Federal AE factory Semi-JHP, shoots around 2" @ 50 yards. I've got some lead SWC's and Hornady XTP's to load and we'll see how they do. If I get a screaming good group I'll post it up here.

The gun has given me great positive feedback on several loads and bullet combinations. It likes 240gr. Hornady XTP's, 265gr. LBT WFNGC, and 320gr. Penn bullets. It's favorite magnum powder, because I've only bought 1 to try, is VV N110. The XTP's are running close to 1550 fps without pressure signs yet. The 265gr. LBT's are running well over 1400 fps. And the Penn 320's are around 1200 fps average. All 3 loads are shooting less than 3" 6-shot groups at 100 yards.
