Looking to buy my first M&P 15-22 in New York

Thanks for all the great information that I have received from your site. I am looking to buy my first Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22. Being from Long Island, New York, I know you can only buy a compliant model. Where would be the best place to purchase it? The prices at my local gun store seem quite high.

If you can't find better pricing in your area, look online, you might be able to find a better deal and just have it transfered to your nearest or most convenient FFL...Just my 2 cents...

try big 5 got mine for 479.99 on sale.

i almost bought mine at big 5. they had an ad in the sunday paper with a really low price. went to go check it out since it was going to be a christmas present. some random clerk shows us the gun and i decide to get it. go thru the paper work and he comes back and tells me that i am buying the floor model. now, these guys beat the **** out of the guns getting them in and out of the security racks. so i said i wasnt taking a floor model and if they can order one, he said they they only always have one in stock i asked what if 2 people come in wanting one...he didnt have an answer. so i cancelled and left to goto my nearby gun store and bought it there. to their credit, they never charged me for the bg check.

so, moral of story, find out if you are getting a floor model. nothing beats the experence of a gun store staff (sometimes).

He was bold face lying to you! I worked at big 5 and they can do a number of things like call a nearby store to ship it to them, order one and you get to keep the sale price.

First of all, my condolences to you for being stuck on Long Island. I lived there most of my life. Come up here to New Hampshire and you won't have to worry about compliance.

Enough with the sarcasm; to answer the actual question I got mine through Davidson's. Go to Davidson's Gallery of Guns and select the gun you want and they will give you instant quotes for 3 gun dealers in your area. I just checked using my old zip code (Stony Brook) and 3 dealers did come up, although the prices were significantly more than I paid 2 weeks ago up here through Davidson's.

Anyway, I hope this helps.
